Pastor Elisabeth Smith

The congregation of the First United Methodist Church is pleased with the assignment of our new minister,
Reverend Elisabeth Smith.  Elisabeth comes to us with a deep faith in God, a lot of enthusiasm and fresh ideas.
We look forward to a long and fulfilling journey with her as our spiritual leader.

Pastor Elisabeth is a native of South Carolina.  She attended Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia
where she received a BA in History and Bible in 1983.  She completed her Master of Divinity in Pastoral
Care/Counseling at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky in 1986.

Elisabeth served as a United Methodist Pastor from 1987 until 2002 in South Carolina.
In 2002, she moved to the New England Annual Conference where she served as pastor in the Pepperell-
Townsend, Massachusetts charge until June 2006 when she was appointed to Hamilton.

At home, Elisabeth has three dogs,one beagle and two lab mixes, who are her "babies." 
Her other hobbies include playing piano and guitar, doing counted cross-stitch, reading, and scrapbooking. 
She also enjoy playing miniature golf, bowling, and traveling.  She has one brother who lives in

outhern California with his wife and daughters.  Her father lives with her in Hamilton.

Pastor Elisabeth is member of the New England Annual Conference Commission on the Status and Role of Women
and the Reconciling Ministries Network.  She trained as a Candidacy Mentor and as a Supervising Elder.
